Saturday Morning Book Bliss

What a beautiful Saturday morning! In Pittsburgh, it has been raining non-stop for over a week. Now the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and we can’t wait to enjoy this beautiful Saturday.

But first… let’s talk books!

It is crunch time for wedding planning. We have less than a month until we say “I DO” and we are starting to narrow down all the details. Exactly 28 days 🙂

In the mean time, I have finished two books this week that were kinda similar but so different in so many ways.

Chasing Clouds by Kathryn Andrews and On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner

When I met her at the Black and Gold Book Signing event, Chasing Clouds stood out to me. It was an immediate purchase. The cover was so beautiful and the synopsis… I just had to find out what happened!

This was just a fun, romantic read for me. I loved the drama in the beginning, the falling in love in the middle, and the end… well I just can’t tell you that part. Read the synopsis and then go read this book! Such a cute summer read!

Reid Jackson
I’m a simple guy. There are only two things I love: my family and playing professional football.

I may not understand why people get married, but I’d go anywhere for my brother, even his friend Camille’s wedding. Once I’m there, I realize our Bronx upbringing leaves me unprepared for the world of old southern money. Over twenty-four hours, I see scandal, threats, and lies. It’s a life I don’t relate to, and a place I never want to belong. But when the minister asks if anyone objects, I shock not only myself, but the beautiful bride when I stand up and say, “I do.” I don’t know her. She doesn’t know me. But deep down, I knew I had to make that move.

Camille Whitley
As a political socialite in the South, nothing about my life is simple.

I’ve always known that one day I’d be standing at the altar, about to marry a man I don’t love. In Savannah, family expectations and appearances are everything, but none of it’s real. I hate what I’ve become, and dream of being free. So when a sudden opportunity presents itself in the form of a stranger with captivating green eyes, I find myself asking, “What’s best for me?” My fiancé or the stranger? The plan or the unknown? I don’t know him. He doesn’t know me. But if I’m going to make a move, it’s now or never.

The second book that I finished was On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner. I have read Kandi Steiner’s books before and they are always so deep. And of course.. this one was just as deep.

Noah and Ruby Grace’s love was so real that you felt it through the pages. When she cried, you cried. When Noah was mad, you were mad. But the love.. the happiness that you felt, made your heart bloom! This was such a great romantic novel and I can’t wait to read more in this series!

Noah Becker is nothing but trouble.

That’s what Mama told me when I was a kid, kicking his pew in church and giggling at the games we’d play. It’s what the town said when his father died and the Becker brothers went wild.

And it’s on repeat in my mind the day I walk into the whiskey distillery where he works to buy a wedding gift for my fiancé.

He’s trouble.
Dirty, sweaty, rude trouble.

No matter how many times I repeat it, I can’t escape Noah in our small Tennessee town. And the more I run into him, the more he infuriates me. Because he sees what no one else does.

He sees me—the real me.

The me I’m not sure I’m allowed to be.

I’m Ruby Grace Barnett, the mayor’s daughter. Soon to be a politician’s wife, just like Mama and Daddy always wanted.  Soon to fulfill my family’s legacy, just like I always knew I would.

Until the boy everyone warned me about makes me question everything, like whether the wedding I’m planning is one I even want.

Everyone says Noah Becker is nothing but trouble.

If only I had listened.

I am not sure what I am going to start reading next. I have a few in mind but still not sure what I am feeling at this moment. Sparking Sara will be delivered to my house today and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. That one might have to be first since Samantha Christy is one of my favorite authors.

Here are my top pics:

  • The Birthday List by Devney Perry (Letters to Molly just released 6/18/19)
  • Sparking Sara by Samantha Christy (** New Release- 6/20/19)
  • Praying for Rain by BB Easton
  • I’ll Be the One by Hazel James
  • Checkmate: This is Reckless by Kennedy Fox

Before I go, there is one last thing I have to tell you!

I LOVE getting my book boxes in the mail every month. I have been dedicated to The Bookworm Box for probably a year now. If you haven’t already, check that out. All paid book boxes goes to different charities.

However, I like to try new ones here and there. I found- Once Upon a Book Club box and let me just tell you… it is so different and cute. Not only do you get a book in your box, but you get so many different gifts inside. But here is the kicker… you are not allowed to open any of the gifts until you have read that page.

Let me go more into detail for you:

Here is the whole box.

There is a gift for page 1. Now I am the type of person that I need to know EVERYTHING! So I had to read the first page. This first page is about this boy who watches this girl come out from her apartment holding a red cup. (I don’t want to give too much away especially is you subscribed to this box.. then I will be a SPOILER).

img_5574 I read the first page and then I opened up the box. img_5575 Inside is a beautiful glass mug with the quote “Completely and perfectly and incandescently happy” – Mrs. Darcy

How stinkin cute is this box? I can’t wait to sit down and get to each page just so I can open up my gifts. It feels like Christmas!! Stay tuned for my unwrapping of my gifts!

Next blog will be out on Tuesday for the release of Beautifully Broken Life by Catherine Cowles. If you haven’t already.. go read Beautifully Broken Pieces. It is such a beautifully, amazing story!

Now go out and ENJOY this weather!!
