So it has been about a week since I posted a blog. I will admit that I have been slacking but I had to go on a work conference for two days this past week and then of course… weekend was full again!
We are slowly transitioning back into post wedding life and finding our grounding. I am hoping to start posting a few times a week once we get back into the swing of things.
Let’s talk BOOKS!
I just finished a book called Love at First Sight by Kelly Elliott and absolutely adored it. So I started to do some research on Kelly Elliott and realized that back in 2012- she released a book called Wanted.
My mother bought me my first NOOK HD PLUS (big, heavy NOOK) for Christmas back in 2012 and this was one of the books that I downloaded. So today, on this very post, I am going to talk about the book she released in 2012 and her most recent book- Love at First Sight that was released August 9th, 2019.
Wanted by Kelly Elliott
Wanted is the first book in the Wanted Series. (I haven’t read any other books in the series). I remember reading this book and wanting to cry about the life that Ellie went through and how much Gunner loved her. Their story was emotional but an enjoyable read.
When you read stories from years ago, you don’t remember the name of the characters in the book or where the story took place. But that one book (or many) that can always bring you back and you remember it just like that. This is the book.
Verbally abused by her mother for years, 18 year old Ellie Johnson always believed she would never be loved or wanted by anyone. She focused all of her attention on her grades and getting into the University of Texas to start a new life away from her mother.
The last thing Ellie expected was to fall in love with Gunner Mathews, a starting linebacker for the University of Texas football team and not to mention, her brother’s best friend.
Gunner only had two passions in life, football and his grandfather’s ranch, until he falls for his best friends little sister. He will stop at nothing to show Ellie how much he wants her, even if it means he has to move faster than she would like.
Gunner knows they are meant to be together forever, but Ellie keeps denying her feelings out of fear of being hurt again.
Every time he gets close to winning her love, something pushes her away again. Will Ellie ever be able to let go of the past and let him into her heart and will Gunner be patient enough to wait for her?
What will it take for them to realize they are all each other have ever WANTED?
Now present day, I finished Love at First Sight in the Southern Bride Series.
This book was such a fun read and just wanted I needed. A happy story! A story that shows true love. A story that shows that even though you may have known each other your whole life, your time to be together will come.. the right time.
Love at first sight.
That’s what it was when Rip Myers came up to me in kindergarten. From that point on, we were inseparable best friends.
When I work up the courage to tell Rip I love him, I am met with rejection. He tells me he treasures our friendship too much. That statement might as well be a knife to my heart.
I want to hold out hope that he’ll change his mind.
Instead, he moves on.
The only choice I have is to pretend that doesn’t slay me.
So, I say yes…to the man I love. But he isn’t the man I’ve been in love with nearly my entire life.
Have a good week and I will post on Friday for book recommendations!
