Here in Pittsburgh, we are dealing with a snowy, rainy, wintry mix. That is nothing new for living in Pittsburgh. I just want a nice snow storm where I can sit on my couch cuddled up with a blanket and a book. Anyone else feel that way?
I am very impressed with myself, I shall say! I have almost completed five books since the start of January. And my reading challenge goal is 72. I am hoping to read maybe two or three more by the end of the month. How is your reading challenge going?
I have come to realize that I am into paranormal romance lately. I enjoy the fantasy part of the book and then of course the love story. If you have ANY recommendations for me on paranormal romance, please share!
Today I am sharing an author who I started reading last year and fell in love with her books. Kennedy Ryan goes above and beyond for all of her research on the books shes writes about. It’s very impressive the information she gets for each of her novels, but also how involved your brain gets into it.
The Kingmaker (All the King’s Men) by Kennedy Ryan
Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition. In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.
My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, I’m determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and would do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.
And neither will I.
First, that cover is beautiful! Second, the characters are pretty bad-ass! Both Maxim and Lennix want to save the world but in totally different ways. Lennix wants her voice to be heard and Maxim wants to figure out global warming in the most dangerous ways. However, they are brought together and the temptation of each other can’t be stopped.
This book is good! Just like all her other books, she really pulls you into the story.
I started reading her second book in the series, The Rebel King. Just like the first one, this book pulls you in. However, there are times in the first half of the book that I was kinda bored. Maybe it’s because I am not into politics? Or Maxim and Lennix’s relationship just got really boring. Now the second half, really heats up and I can’t put the book down. Read the first book first and then the second to get the full up and down craziness of Maxim and Lennix’s story.
I didn’t add synopsis because because I didn’t want to ruin anything if you haven’t read the first one.
I’ve added Long Shot to this blog because that is the book that made me love Kennedy Ryan’s books.
Think you know what it’s like being a baller’s girl?
My fairy tale is upside down.
A happily never after.
I kissed the prince and he turned into a fraud.
I was a fool, and his love – fool’s gold.
Now there’s a new player in the game, August West.
One of the NBA’s brightest stars.
He wants me. I want him.
But my past, my fraudulent prince, just won’t let me go.
Long Shot has been my absolute favorite book by Kennedy Ryan. It was dark, deep, and a book that I couldn’t put down. And at times, a little bit scary.
Other books that I own by Kennedy Ryan.
Sorry, I don’t have an update on the baby room just yet. We just finished painting and scrubbing carpets so look for pictures soon.
Stay dry and stay warm cuddled underneath a blanket 🙂
