What a busy few weeks of me getting back to normalcy.. somewhat! I am now back to work full-time and so is Eric. However, Eric is still working remotely from home. My mom and his mom are watching Cole on certain days. It has been a change of getting back to the swing of things.
Good news is that I have been reading and have two reviews for you.
Keeping You Away by Kennedy Fox
5 out of 5 stars
This is a no brainer especially when you look forward to reading a new book by Kennedy Fox. And I am finally so happy to read Tyler’s story! I was wondering when we would see more of him and he is now here in Keeping You Away.
We already know Tyler from Always Mine and Always Yours. In this story… we get to know him a little better and where he grew up. Then we meet Gemma and how these two left off on the wrong foot. He comes tumbling back through after being away for 12 years thinking that he is going to have a fresh new start but not knowing… the past is trailing behind.
Now if you haven’t read Kennedy Fox (which you need to start NOW) books, you must know that they always leave me with my mouth hanging open and with a shocked face at the end of each story. And that’s what I love most about these stories… I just can’t wait to read more!
Enjoy this book.. it’s a good one!
I never planned on returning to Alabama, but circumstances brought me here after years of being gone. Though Lawton Ridge is my hometown, I was hesitant to go back because of her —my sister’s best friend. The last time we were together, she was eighteen, and I was a broken soldier transitioning to civilian life.
Gemma wrote to me while I was overseas and we developed a bond I hadn’t anticipated. I crushed her heart the day I left, something I’ve never forgotten. But now that her dad is my new boss, life just got way more complicated.
Too sweet, too innocent, too good for a guy like me—I should walk away again.
After serving five years in prison for something I didn’t do, I trust no one, but Gemma gradually breaks down my walls and exposes the pain I’ve hidden underneath. For her own sake, I should keep my distance, but it’s nearly impossible when I hear her sweet humming while I work and she slowly draws me back in. It’s a battle I didn’t train for, and one I’ll lose if I don’t keep my restraint—especially since she’s engaged to another man.
The Proposal by Maya Hughes
5 out of 5 stars
Fun! Cute! Amazing! Beautiful! Flirty! There are so many ways to describe this exciting book… but overall it was GREAT!
We meet Leo and Zara and from the start you feel the attraction. You feel the back and forth pull between each other which makes it so much more interesting.
I couldn’t put this book down for so many reasons. One.. it was fun and cute! I loved the characters. Secondly, the story! And lastly, the emotion! Way to go Maya!
When I envisioned Zara Logan dropping to her knees in front of me, this wasn’t what I had in mind…
I was expecting a lot less glaring and a lot more moaning.
Instead, she’s proposing an enticing deal that I can’t bear to walk away from.
To land one of the city’s biggest clients, she wants us to put our differences aside and play fake fiancés for the next thirty days.
So, I slip the diamond ring onto her finger and agree to play the perfect fiancé. How hard can this be?
A hell of a lot harder than I thought…
She’s infuriatingly stubborn and she thinks I’m a cocky jerk with an enormous ego. (She’s right, but I can definitely back it up…)
As our long days stretch into even later nights, it’s getting harder to remember we’re only playing pretend, which means one thing.
She won’t be faking it for long…
There are two great book reviews!
I am currently finishing up Make Me Hate You by Kandi Steiner. I am loving this book so far! Then I am going to read a fantasy fiction book called The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh. I feel like switching it up a bit and if you are interested, I will add synopsis below. Anybody want to buddy read this with me?
The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh
In 1872, New Orleans is a city ruled by the dead. But to seventeen-year-old Celine Rousseau, New Orleans provides her a refuge after she’s forced to flee her life as a dressmaker in Paris. Taken in by the sisters of the Ursuline convent along with six other girls, Celine quickly becomes enamored with the vibrant city from the music to the food to the soirées and—especially—to the danger. She soon becomes embroiled in the city’s glitzy underworld, known as La Cour des Lions, after catching the eye of the group’s leader, the enigmatic Sébastien Saint Germain. When the body of one of the girls from the convent is found in the lair of La Cour des Lions, Celine battles her attraction to him and suspicions about Sébastien’s guilt along with the shame of her own horrible secret.
When more bodies are discovered, each crime more gruesome than the last, Celine and New Orleans become gripped by the terror of a serial killer on the loose—one Celine is sure has set her in his sights . . . and who may even be the young man who has stolen her heart. As the murders continue to go unsolved, Celine takes matters into her own hands and soon uncovers something even more shocking: an age-old feud from the darkest creatures of the underworld reveals a truth about Celine she always suspected simmered just beneath the surface.
I am still trying to get back into the swing of things and how to make time for me. It is going to take a bit so please understand and don’t stop reading my blog!
Thank you for reading and following my love for my family and books 🙂
